about

To parallel this feeling of a divine love, I called upon the story of Adonis, the most beautiful man and partner to Aphrodite. Artemis was jealous of this, and sent a boar to kill Adonis. As he bled to death, Aphrodite wept on his body, and from the mixture of blood and tears, flowers bloomed.
This was a metaphor for all the anxiety and pain we endure. From my misbehaving, flowers bloomed and I became a stronger more beautiful version of myself. There is wordplay as well, with “honey stuck on my fingertips, the taste of Adonis on your lips” greying who Adonis is, the narrator or the subject we've been enamored with? Am I being pierced by the boar or am I Aphrodite overcoming loss with grace? Either way, we can find beauty in our pain and learn from the experiences we have to become a more graceful being.

lyrics

Have you seen me, within your sleep?
Do you even dream like me?
My imagination's run wild
Like a boar or untethered child

Would you take me as your god?
Soft and tender, humanly flawed
Falling to the nectar of love

Good thing I have a sweet tooth
Cause I can't get enough of you in my veins
Honey stuck on my finger tips
The taste of Adonis on your lips
Flowers bloom when we misbehave

A man of marble lost to the heart
Aphrodite's turned loss to an art
To feel this pain makes me feel a child
But I felt your touch and life was worthwhile

Good thing I have a sweet tooth
Cause I can't get enough of you in my veins
Honey stuck on my finger tips
The taste of Adonis on your lips
Flowers bloom when we misbehave

You've got to get out of my dreams
You've got to get out of my dreams
You've got to get out of my dreams
You've got to get out of my dreams

Good thing I have a sweet tooth
Cause I can't get enough of you in my veins
Honey stuck on our finger tips
The taste of Adonis on your lips

Flowers bloom when we misbehave
