I wrote this song right on the night of my 24th birthday, experiencing anxiety about the fact that I was aging and hadn’t experienced a formal “relationship” yet. The chorus of this song captures the feeling of time passing by and losing youth while waiting for someone to come along, while the verses explain the experience of holding on to an fantasy too tight then later releasing yourself from your own expectations.
